They tell us that we need to lower our cholesterol levels to the lowest possible because any amount is too high. even if you are healthy you should lower your cholesterol by taking statin medications for the rest of your lives.

The most sold statin drugs are:

  • atorvastatin (sold as Lipitor),
  • rosuvastatin (sold as Crestor), and
  • simvastatin (sold as Zocor but also available as generic.

When the pharmaceutical companies realized they could easily produce a drug to lower blood cholesterol they simply bought and paid for the “science” to “prove” their theories. This way, the “good and bad” cholesterol scam was born and continuously fed with heavy marketing campaigns over the years and facilitated by doctors tied to the industry.

In fact, ties between heart doctors and Big Pharma are so extensive that it is almost impossible to find a large group of doctors who have no industry ties.”

Indeed,  campaigns very proficuous because total prescription drug spending in the U.S. has climbed up to about $374 billion in 2014,  and statins undoubtedly made up a significant portion of this spending, because they are raking in more than $140 billion in sales just with the drug Lipitor, according to Health Impact News.

The “high cholesterol scam” so initiated by the pharmaceutical companies ingrained the idea that a total cholesterol number of 200 needs immediate “action”: a statin drug and no saturated fat and cholesterol rich foods diets.

What Is Cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance, it is produced in animal tissues, especially in large amounts in the central nervous system, in the brain and spinal cord.

In humans, most of the daily cholesterol needed is produced by the liver (your body makes ¾ of its own cholesterol)  by combining fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in a 25-step process.

But not all. The rest must come from diet. Just the brain, contains about 25 percent of the total cholesterol in our body.

Because only the cell membranes of animal tissue contain cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol would need to come from an animal or contain a product from an animal.

So, Besides the liver producing cholesterol, the very best way to receive cholesterol into the body is to eat it.

If you are vegetarian and only eat fruits and vegetables, nuts and grains then you are receiving “zero” cholesterol. Certainly, you can get some fats and proteins from these foods but you would need a lot compared to meats and dairy.

Also, animal foods of animal origin have the most saturated fats and are the highest in proteins which are two of the building blocks of cholesterol.

The Conventional Medicine States That Total Cholesterol Is Made Up Of:

  1. High-density lipoprotein (or HDL): This is called “good” cholesterol.  Good for your arteries,  to prevent heart disease.
  2. Low-density lipoprotein (or LDL): This “bad” cholesterol and builds up in your arteries, narrowing them and making them less flexible (generating the atherosclerosis condition). It can cause a clot forming in one narrowed arteries causing a heart attack or stroke.3
  3. Triglycerides: Dangerous fats, have been linked to heart disease and diabetes. Triglyceride levels rise from eating grains and sugars, being physically inactive, smoking, drinking alcohol and being overweight.
  4. Lipoprotein (a): A substance made up of an LDL “bad cholesterol” part plus a protein. Elevated Lp(a) levels are a very strong risk factor for heart disease. This has been well established. Physicians should always check for it in their patients.

Note that LDL and HDL are just fats, fats combined with proteins. They combine with other fats and proteins to be carried through the bloodstream.

About LDL particles, we know now that hey come in diverse sizes: while large LDL particles are not a problem, the so-called small dense LDL particles can be a problem, because of their ability to filter through the lining of the arteries where they can cause damage and inflammation if they oxidize.

Additional tests are necessary to assess if you are at a very high risk of heart disease:

  • HDL/Cholesterol ratio
  • Triglyceride/HDL ratio

As a guideline to roughly determine your risk of heart disease:

  • If the ratio of your HDL to your Cholesterol (Just divide your HDL level by your cholesterol) is below 24% you may be at risk.
  • If the ratio of your Triglycerides to your HDL is higher than 2 you may be at risk

People with genetic familial hypercholesterolemia tend to be resistant to lowering it with lifestyle strategies like diet and exercise.

Studies found no correlation of blood cholesterol levels with so-called “bad” dietary habits, such as consumption of red meat, animal fats, butter, eggs, whole milk, bacon, sausage, and cheese.

What Should Your Cholesterol Level Be

Despite what your doctor may tell you, there’s no rule to determine what a healthy cholesterol level is.  You cannot say that total cholesterol should be less than 200 milligrams per deciliter for everyone.

According to The American Heart Association, your total cholesterol should be less than 200 mg/dL, but total cholesterol level is totally worthless in determining your risk for heart disease unless it is above 300.

Also, the AHA  recommends a level of LDL cholesterol to be less than 100 for patients at very high risk.

These low target recommendations are completely insane and dangerous, you would have to take a number of cholesterol-lowering drugs, not just one if you had to achieve those target levels.

Remember, you can have people with total cholesterol levels over 250 who are actually at low heart disease risk as well as people with total cholesterol levels under 200 that are at a very high risk of heart disease.

Which cholesterol level is too low?  Likely anything below the 200 level that your doctor tells you not to exceed.

The following is a recommended list of foods (must be organic and unprocessed) that are a good source of natural cholesterol. Raw and fresh are the best forms.

Statin do lower cholesterol (by inhibiting the enzyme in your liver that produces cholesterol, HMG coenzyme A reductase)., BUT do not assume that as your levels of cholesterol fall that is proof that you’re lowering also your risk of heart disease and heart attack. There is far more that goes into your risk of heart disease than your cholesterol levels. Further, there is evidence showing that statins may actually, make your heart health worse.

2. Statins Reduce CoQ10
Statins deplete your body of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), which explains their devastating results. Although it was proposed, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2014 decided to not add a black box warning about the statins  effect on the CoQ10 problem.

CoQ10 is a very important coenzyme vital for good health, longevity, and general quality of life because it used for energy production by every cell in your body.
