About Pressure Measurement

Another study found that quercetin prevented the kidney damage usually resulting from hypertension. Quercetin supplementation regulates the sodium channel in the kidney, preventing salt from elevating the blood pressure.

Co-Q10 is fat-soluble, so capsules containing powdered Co-Q10 will be poorly absorbed. It should either be dissolved in an oil (most commercial products use rice oil) or removed from the capsule and mixed with a half-tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil or fish oil.
The dose varies from 75 to 600 mg. a day, depending on your response.
Warning Many prescriptions — including the statin drugs and many blood pressure medications and diabetic medications — deplete the body’s stores of Co-Q10.
The millions of patients on statin cholesterol- lowering drugs (which notoriously dramatically lowers the body’s Co-Q10 levels) are at serious risk, especially for one of the worst complications of hypertension — enlargement of the heart (which leads to heart failure).
So after taking these medications to improve our hypertension for years, people become much more ill, with increased risk for such serious complications as kidney damage, heart failure, arrhythmia and atherosclerosis.
L-Carnitine is another natural biochemical found in the body like Co-Q10, it also possesses numerous health benefits. L-carnitine is critical for the heart, and low levels within the heart muscle and blood have been linked to heart failure and heart attacks.
Studies found that when L-carnitine was used in patients taking antihypertensive drugs, the symptoms of extreme weakness associated with these drugs subsided. An additional benefit: L-carnitine seems to reduce the risk of arrhythmia in heart patients.

One study, reported in the journal Circulation, found that NAC prevented the progressive deterioration of the heart associated with hypertension.
You know that the autonomic nervous system is composed of two portions — the parasympathetic nervous system, and the sympathetic, which is responsible for responding to danger or stress. NAC works by reducing the tone of the sympathetic system (essentially getting rid of stress) — which is common factor in hypertensives. as well, the calming benefits were even greater when melatonin was added.

Alpha-lipoic acid fights that process the causes hypertension itself: the formation of free radicals and lipid peroxidation.
