Irritable Bowel Syndrome And Its Effects On Your Brain Health. How To Cure Irritable Bowel Syndrome And Leaky Gut Syndrome Without Drugs. A Natural New Treatment

brainLearn how to care for your guts. We know its importance to avoid and prevent major autoimmune diseases like leaky gut syndrome and  IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) but new science is showing how also your brain health and functioning are especially affected by its health. A healthy gut is the key to prevent inflammation which causes brain disorders as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis (MS).

Besides fighting dysbiosis, a condition which  occurs when the pathogenic bacteria and other
microorganisms in your guts overgrow, which is generally represented by a wide range of diseases: gastrointestinal and also such as chronic fatigue, obesity, and even cancer, r
ecent studies have shown that good bacterial gut balance play a direct role also in mental health. Individuals who can intake these good bacteria on a daily basis have fewer issues with anxiety, depression and stress.

Dr. David Perlmutter, a board-certified neurologist and a fellow of the American College of Nutrition (ACN), is probably the leading natural medicine neurologist in the US. According to Dr. Perlmutter, the quality and composition of the bacteria we have in our gut also have a great influence on our brain. He explains this phenomenon in great detail in a new book of his, Brain Maker: The Power of Gut Microbes to Heal and Protect Your Brain-for Life.

Dr. Perlmutter keeps into consideration the impact that  lifestyle has on the neurological disorders, and the importance of prevention because we still do not have effective treatments for many of the most common brain disorders. He says:

“We’re now recognizing from research at our most well-respected institutions from around the globe that the gut bacteria are wielding this very powerful sword of Damocles,”

colonThey determine whether we’re going to have a healthy brain or not, whether our brain is going to function well or not, and whether our brain is going to become diseased or not. Who knew that we’d be referring back to the gut?”

In his book, Dr. Perlmutter explains that every system in your body interrelates in a way that ultimately causes the manifestation of either health or disease. He says that there are specific dietary factors that influence your brain health and one of the primary mechanisms of action  is that they can regulate, modify, and improve the quality of your gut microbiome.

And he explains that there are hundred trillion bacteria living within our guts and that they are strictly involved in your brain at various levels like the manufacturing of neurochemicals like dopamine and serotonin,  of  vitamins that are important to keep your brain healthy, and to  maintain the integrity of the lining of your gut.

A  compromised lining of the gut will cause permeability or leakiness of the gut. This will increases inflammation, which is a the turning point for brain disorders as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis (MS), and autism.

According to Dr. Perlmutter this has to be dealt on a preventive basis. It is important to understand that at a dining table we are in company with those bacteria because we eat the same food therefore the food that we choose has a dramatic effect on the health viability and the diversity of our gut bacteria.

According to another doctor, the bacteria in your guts are characteristic to a type of disease. Dr. Max Nieuwdorp, has published a number of studies looking at changes in the microbiome that are characteristic of type 2 diabetes. And he was able to reverse type 2 diabetes in a trial involving 250 participants with type 2 diabetes by doing fecal transplantations on them.

So you start to understand  that just by practical adjustment and modification of the microbiome you heavily influence your health condition.

Other excerpts from his book:

“The gut microbiome is 99 percent of the DNA in your body, and it is highly responsive and changeable based upon lifestyle choices, most importantly our food choices,”

“The gut bacteria actually influenced the expression of our 23,000 genes. Think about that. The bugs that live within us are changing our genome expression moment to moment.

Being a brain specialist dealing with brain disorders, my whole career I’ve been stymied by not having really powerful tools to implement to bring about changes in individuals who have these issues. Now we’re beginning to get those tools, and they are in the gut. Who knew?

In neurology school, we didn’t study the makeup of the gut bacteria and how that would ever influence the brain, and yet, this is leading-edge science.

This is what our most well-respected researchers and peer-reviewed journals are talking about: not only are the gut bacteria fundamentally involved in brain health, but you can change the gut bacteria by interventions – taking probiotics and choosing to eat foods that are rich in prebiotics and to enhance the growth of good bacteria – and even more aggressive therapies [such as fecal transplants]”

Link Between Macrobiome And Autoimmune Diseases.

The list of autoimmune disease is large. There are over 100 known and 40 suspected diseases,  they are chronic, can be life threatening and usually last a lifetime. The majority of those afflicted are under 35 when first diagnosed. They affect the neuromuscular system, the hepatobiliary system (liver and gallbladder) and the vascular system (blood vessels, arteries and veins).

Just to name a few: Addison’s, Celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, Lupus erithematosus, Evans syndrome, Grave’s disease, Gullain-Barre syndrome, IBS (inflammatory Bowel Disease), Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Meniere’s disease, MS (Multiple Sclerosis), Pernicious anemia, Psoriasis, Retinopathy, Rheumatoid arthritis, Thyroiditis.

The hallmark of autoimmune disease is inflammation

According to Dr. Perlmutter, many of the factors that affect permeability of the blood-brain barrier are similar to those that affect the gut, which is why leaky gut can lead to neurological diseases just  as it can manifests in other forms of autoimmune disorder.

Support Your Gut Bacteria And It Will Support Youmicrobiome

In order to protect and enhance the quality of your microbiome (the bacteria in your guts) you must

  • Limit consumption of antibiotics to when they’re absolutely necessary,  and
  • Eat preferably whole, raw organic, non-genetically modified (GM) foods, and probiotic foods, the traditionally fermented vegetable foods like sauerkraut, kombucha, and fiber-rich prebiotic foods like Jerusalem artichoke, and garlic. Glyphosate, which is liberally used on genetically engineered Roundup Ready crops, and many non-organic non-GMO crops as well, has also been found to alter the human microbiome.
  • Consume plenty of prebiotic fiber. Not all fibers are prebiotic. Whole foods are the best. Examples include dandelion greens, which can be lightly sautéd, Mexican yam (jicama) that can be eaten raw with your salad. Onions and leeks are also excellent choices. These kinds of foods will allow your gut bacteria to flourish, which is the key to health, disease resistance, and longevity.
  • Limit the amount of refined and processed sugars. fructose in particular promotes gut dysbiosis, and there’s also a good correlation between fructose consumption and the levels of  inflammatory markers that shows your gut is leaking. Fructose consumption is related to increased gut permeability, and inflammatory diseases like obesity.
  • Avoid eating meat of animals raised  on antibiotics, which changes their microbiome as well. This routine practice also promotes antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
  • Avoid pesticides which also been shown to alter gut bacteria and promote drug-resistant bacteria in the soil and food, by eating only organically-grown and raised foods.

INTAKE PROBIOTICS Daily To keep Your GUTS  Healthy And Avoid Serious Diseases

What Are Probiotics

sunbioticsProbiotics are live bacteria that some doctors prescribe to patients on antibiotics in an attempt to combat gastrointestinal side effects (dysbiosis) of the medications they prescribe (especially antibiotics) which tend to indiscriminately kill all the bacteria in the guts.

Probiotics have been shown effective in managing certain gastrointestinal conditions. The healthy bacteria that live in the large intestine, or colon,  strengthen the bowel wall, improve mineral absorption and aid in the regulation of hormone production, which has a range of essential benefits

And the best natural way to take probiotic is by eating yogurt,

To ingest adequate amounts of probiotics is difficult, first, they’re delicate — heat and particular stomach conditions can sometimes kill them, rendering them ineffective before they’ve even been digested.

In the second place the probiotics that you hope to find into the yogurt that you are buying at the supermarket are almost none because they commercial yogurt is made with milks that are pasteurised which destroys most of these live bacteria.commercial yogurt

Additionally, the pasteurization process kills the lactose enzyme which makes the milk more digestive so this becomes a problem for the many people who are intolerant to dairy products

Additionally, commercial yogurts are also filled with artificial sweeteners,  colorants, preservatives and sugars making them a very unhealthy food.

For this reason THE ONLY WAY TO GUARANTEE MAXIMUM HEALTH BENEFITS and optimum probiotics intake is using organic unheated milk, and preparing your yogurt at home.

If you are a health-conscious person and want to make sure that your  yogurt is a healthy product you have to make it  yourself so you can use only all natural organic elements.

Additional  Sources Of Probiotics

Other minor sources of Probiotics, some of which you might want to included in your diet, because they can bring their own range of probiotics, are:

  • sauerkrautKefir. A fermented milk which contains health-giving yeast as well as probiotics.
  • Kombucha. A fermented black tea that is full of a variety of microorganisms to help build a strong gut.
  • Sauerkraut. A fermented food with a powerful impact on brain health, according to experts, for reducing depression and anxiety.
  • Pickles. Another fermented food.
  • Miso. A paste made from fermented soybeans and grains is full of essential minerals, like potassium and has millions of microorganisms that give is strength and stamina. You can make a miso soup just by adding a tablespoon to a cup of boiling water along with some vegetables you like.
  • Tempeh. A paste made from fermented soybeans is a complete protein with all the amino acids

Prebiotics.

Because probiotics are so delicate, in order to enhance and increase their presence in our guts, to promote their growth, a special food, a specialized plant fiber, called Prebiotics, can be taken together with them.

The most common types of prebiotics are Oligofructose and Inulin. Prebiotics are not only theFoods High in Prebiotics “fertilizers” of probiotics, their health benefits include increased bone density, strengthened immune system, better-controlled weight and appetite, and improved bowel regularity.

While probiotics are found in your homemade organic yogurt, prebiotic fiber is found in fruits and vegetables, such as the skin of apples, bananas, onions and garlic, artichoke, chicory root and beans.

Unfortunately the amount found in these foods is so minimal that it is impossible to get enough of it to supply the necessary amount needed by the human body when the digestive system is compromised by a disease.

So to get the most beneficial effects for your guts you have to EAT YOGURT and TAKE PREBIOTIC SUPPLEMENTS together daily.

Yogurt Preparation

The process is quite simple:

  • Put milk in the maker to heat it up to the proper temperature.
  • Wait for the alert when you need to add in your starter batch of plain yogurt and whole milk to your maker (Typically,  two tablespoons of yogurt starter batch for every four cups of milk).
  • Depending on the type of machine, it will stir the starter batch or you will have to do it.
  • Depending on the type of machine, you set your machine on or you take the yogurt starter base you made and place it into the individual containers.
  • Now you can set the timer on your yogurt maker. Make sure you set it right or you could end up getting under cooked or over cooked yogurt. Typically the time is going to be for twelve hours.

yogurt makingYou may want to add fruit into the yogurt. This is typically added into the yogurt after the starter batch is made.

After the time period has completed for the cooking, make sure to have the yogurt taken out within an hour or so. If it sits too long, it tends to get bitter. After a short cooling period, you need to put the yogurt into the storage container you have ready for it.

You can get a lactose free yogurt if you want, just let it ferment for 24 hours. The normal fermentation time is 6-24 hours. Now it becomes easy to make frozen yogurt at home with the help of the best frozen yogurt maker.

Features To Consider While Buying A Yogurt Maker

Cost:

Different brands offer different price ranges, and you get what you pay for. Jus choose carefully as cheaper machines are less reliable.  Depending on the quality, the price varies from  is $25 to $200.

Type:

Must be simple and easy to use. But on the market there are also types that allow the production of fresh cheese, sour cream and buttermilk.

There are also non electrical yogurt maker. They use hot water to make the milk warm for the fermentation.. This kind consumes less to no electricity,if you are interested in reducing your energy consumption.

The electric ones have the advantage of a timer to stop the process when the yogurt is ready;  You can also observe the fermentation process through the see-through lid.

A best frozen yogurt maker also can make delicious sorbets and ice creams.

The pot:

Consider the capacity. Does your household consume big quantities of yogurts per week?. Usually every model comes in 2 different configurations. Choose depending on the total amount of yogurts consumed per day and in what works for the family. Different brands offer different volume capacity.

Jars

A single large jar machine is convenient f you want to make yogurts on the go.  Choose a maker with a number of small jars if you want to make yogurts with different flavours.

Timer:

Different machines need different amounts of time in fermenting the yogurt. The time needed varying from 5 to 8 hours. Normally you prepare the machine before going to bed and the yogurt has had the time to cool in the freezeeurocuisiner for about 12 hours. But a machine with timer turns the appliance off after completion to avoid over-fermenting the yogurt which will make it too acidic.

Consider all the aboves then pick up a machine according to your needs

Here I am just showing a easy to use machine, the Euro Cuisine YMX650 Automatic Digital Yogurt Maker. You can find many other models at the excellent low prices the only Amazon can offer.

How Probiotics Represent A Cure For Dysbiosis

Probiotics will treat and correct bacterial imbalances.

dysbiosisWhen the pathogenic bacteria and other microorganisms in your guts overgrow, a condition called dysbiosis occurs which is generally represented by a wide range of diseases: gastrointestinal and also such as chronic fatigue, obesity, and even cancer.

Probiotics intaking will benefit especially OLDER PEOPLE who often suffer for:

  • Constipation,
  • Diarrhea , bowel movement,
  • Gas and bloating,
  • Abdominal discomfort

.One of the main causes of dysbiosis, besides poor diet, is the overuse of antibiotics and many other damn drugs we are prescribed like birth control pills, steroids such as cortisone, excess consumption of alcohol, mercury intoxication, and exposure to pesticides.

So the balance of the gut microorganisms becomes disrupted and the friendly bacteria is damaged while the bad bacteria thrives leading to a chronic imbalance if not cured in time.

Because the microorganism of your guts generate wastes, just like any living organism do, if the bad bacteria outnumber the good one the effort of your organism to remove these wastes will not be sufficient resulting in a microbial waste buildup.

Candida Albicans

candidaThe combination of excess waste and bacterial overgrowth causes serious health problems like candidiasis, or, as it is known, Candida Albicans, a yeast infection which, according to Italian doctor Tullio Simoncini leads straight to CANCER, which hits often women.

(Mercury toxicity from mercury-amalgam-type dental fillings is another contributor to yeast overgrowth).

As it grows Candida becomes a fungal form which can penetrate the membranes of the large intestine, which are mucous, thus releasing toxins directly into the bloodstream. Symptoms of this intoxications are flatulence, indigestion, depression, irritability, PMS and vaginal infections.

Treatment of these two conditions, Dysbiosis and Candida, should include

Supplementing daily with lactobacillus acidophilus, bifidus and other probiotics contained in yogurt which will reintroduce friendly bacteria into the large intestine. Besides:

  • Supplementing with aged garlic extract.
  • Eliminating all refined sugars and foods.no sugar
  • Increasing dietary fibre, legumes, raw fruits and vegetables.
  • Cleansing of liver and kidneys.
  • Eliminating all yeast containing foods like bakery, breads, alcohol, mushrooms, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.

Cure will take 3-6 month time.

Please feel free to leave your comments.

Until next time.
